I do appreciate that it can expand when necessary - the option is there if I need it. Realistically, though, I like that it forces me to carry only the essentials instead of loading it up with things I don't need. In its slim configuration I can't actually fill every integrated pocket without expanding the pack, and honestly, that's probably a good thing for me. The integrated charging port is also a nice touch. It makes charging on-the-go easier without having to dig around in the bag for my charger. Overall, this is a practical and good-looking backpack that keeps me organized and disciplined about what I carry, with expansion available if I truly need it.

I commute to London and like nearly everybody else around me I carry my laptop and everything else I need for the day in a rucksack. I tend to carry a lot of stuff, probably too much, so I have a large rucksack and generally it serves me well… but what I have wanted for a long time is a slim rucksack as some days I don’t want everything with me. I just want my laptop and charger and a few essential items. I have tried using a day rucksack before, as it’s smaller, but it doesn’t have a dedicated laptop section (just one big compartment) and it looks like it’s designed for hiking and not my work commute. So… to find this Slim Travel Rucksack was a great day! It does exactly what I want it to do. I only have a 14” laptop so this easily fits into any of the three compartments inside in it’s ‘slim mode’ (along with my charger and mouse etc.) and yet still has plenty of additional space in the two front zipped pockets for all my other essential stuff… like emergency energy bars for the train ride home :) The real extra part of this product is then the ability to expand, using an easy unzip and zip design, to really open up the rucksack inside space. It’s still then slimmer than my normal commuting rucksack but in reality it's then large enough to carry everything if I have to take extra stuff to work or home from work. In slim mode I find this rucksack very comfortable and the straps are just right for me (I’m probably slightly smaller than average). I haven’t tried it fully loaded in expanded mode, as the whole point of this for me is to have it in slim mode, and it seems to me that the product is designed for 'slim' and the expanded is for times when you just need extra space, rather than buying it to use in expanded mode all the time. I think that would be a waste of what this rucksack is trying to be and do. I don’t particularly need the USB power bank connectivity, as I normally charge my phone at work during the day, but I do always carry a small power bank with me in my rucksack for emergencies, so it’s handy to have the option built into the bag. One last thing I’d like to mention is the impression I got of the product as soon as I opened the package. All the metal zips had protective covers over them (see photos) and the handle also was protected. It’s seemingly small touches like this that speak loudly for me about how the manufacturer consider their product. It shows thought and care has gone into not just it’s presentation but ensuring the product arrives in best condition at the customer. I like the small touches of colour on the zips and handle too. This then gives me confidence in how the rest of the product has been designed and made, and reassures me of its quality. I also think the overall design of this rucksack looks very smart and definitely fits into a business environment. Conclusion: if you are looking for a slim laptop for commuting and urban work purposes, rather than outdoor country pursuits, then I thoroughly recommend this to you.

The good: good quality material (seems durable). Excellent for traveling, since it’s very slim (good for Japan subway where the trains are crowded, so this will not get in the way). Also has loop in the back to slip onto luggage handles. Good size for airplane carry-on. Has some reflective material for nighttime safety. Has plug for recharging your devices (just provide your own power bank). Lots of pockets and compartments (eg: for laptops). Has chests chips for tighter fit. Nice details, like the yellow accent colors. Can be expanded when you buy too many souvenirs (and it works well to expand via zipper). Has two major compartment openings with double zippers for ease of use. Has side zippered compartment for smaller frequently use items. Great cushioning and breathability in the back area. The bad: the top handle material is made of pleather, so will not look good once it starts to wear down. There is no water bottle holder (so drinks will need to be stored inside). Overall, these are minor and not deal breakers in my opinion.

Ideally suited to fit a standard 15.6” laptop computer, which slots nicely into a padded pocket within the main compartment of the bag, and can then be held in by a vertical strap with a Velcro patch. A smaller compartment has a selection of pockets, a key hook. And a short USB extension cable that leads to an external port where you might charge your phone if a battery pack is installed within, for example. In the back there is a zippered pocket, for additional storage. Then, there is a zip that, when undone, allows the backpack to expand to its fuller form. This provides room for a change of clothes, perhaps, or other travel necessities. The backpack is sleek and lightweight, particularly in its reduced storage form. The should straps are nicely padded, and there is a strap that can clip together between them to offer additional stability and security. There is adequate adjustment to allow for a variety of wearers. Listed as “for men”, but pretty neutrally black to be used by anyone.

The backpack is fairly rigid, so it does not easily bend or collapse, which feels reassuring when carrying electronics. The USB port works well, nothing negative to say about it. It is convenient to be able to charge without fully opening the bag. It is also really comfortable to wear, even when it is loaded. After several weeks of daily use, it fully meets my expectations. For carrying a laptop and all your work essentials, it is a very solid choice. I am very satisfied.

Excellent quality backpack. Thought I’d use it more without utilizing tue expansion zipper but quickly found it too thin to accommodate my stuff. Once expansion zipper opened was perfect size. Zippers are quality and should last for years.
